School Rules


SCHOOL RULES
1. No hitting, biting, pinching, spitting, throwing, pushing, hair pulling or hurting ourselves or others.
2. No intentionally breaking anything.
3. No running, jumping, wrestling, climbing, etc. in the building or on the furniture.
4. No picking up babies or toddlers.
5. No leaving the building without permission.
6. No child is allowed outside without adult supervision, even when their parents are here.
7. No name-calling, yelling, foul language or teasing—everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

TOYS
Please do NOT send any toys from home with your child. If your child brings a toy, he/she will be required to leave the toy in his/her assigned cubby. We assume NO responsibility for lost, stolen, or broken toys from home. Should the child deliberately destroy our toys or other property through misuse or willfulness, the parent will be required to replace it.

DRESS CODE
All children are required to wear school uniforms Monday through Thursday. Friday of each week is free dress day, your child may wear what they want as long as it is appropriate. Keep in mind that some of our activities may be messy. Do not send your child in clothing that you do not want stained. Please supply a complete change of clothing in case of an accident. If the child has no spare clothing, the parent will be called to bring some.

Weather permitting, we will spend a lot of time outdoors. Please make sure our child is dressed appropriately for all weather conditions.

Water Play: We have moonwalks and sprinklers for summer water play. Please send swimwear and accessories on designated days!

The uniforms are as follows:
Girls: Jumpers, pull-on pants, shorts or skirts in navy or khaki. Polo shirts are to be in solid colors only, such as blue, green, navy, pink, red, white or yellow. Other colors are acceptable if the shirt is a solid color.

Boys: Pull-on pants or shorts in navy or khaki. Polo shirts in solid colors only.

STUDENTS’ NAMES SHOULD BE ON EACH ARTICLE OF CLOTHING SO LOST ITEMS CAN
BE RETURNED WHEN FOUND. THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR
MISPLACED ITEMS.

REST PERIOD
All children under the age of 5 will have a rest period. No child is forced to sleep; however they must remain quiet. Those who wake early will participate in a quiet activity until Rest Time is over. All children will rest on their mats with individual linens.

POTTY TRAINING
We will assist you in potty training your child with the understanding that it will be successful only if we work together. We will use cotton underwear or pull-ups supplied by the parent. Send your child ONLY in easy on/easy off clothing until they are able to completely undress and dress themselves. We required at least two complete changes of clothing during potty training. We do not launder soiled items and will send them home in a plastic bag. Please replace any clothing sent home the next day.

HOLIDAYS & BIRTHDAYS
We honor major holidays and all children’s birthdays. If you would like to have a special party, please arrange this with the director. You are more than welcome to participate in ANY activities we have planned.

VISITS
You are invited and welcome to visit anytime your child is present. Please observe your child through the windows in the hallway. You are asked to avoid visiting during Rest Time as much as possible. Parents are also free to call at any time. If we do not answer the phone, please leave a message, and we will call you back as soon as we are finished with the current activity.

ARRIVAL
All drop-off and pick-up persons are required to register with our ProCare Childcare System. This is a must. Registration will be conducted by our Director. Please make any alternate pick up person aware of the requirements.

Morning classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM. All children are encouraged to carry their own belongings to class. It is normal for your child to cry on arrival, especially for the first few weeks. Please make your goodbye brief and tell your child exactly when you will be returning. The crying usually stops within seconds of your departure. Never leave without telling your child goodbye.

PICK UP
All pick-ups must take place inside the school. Please do not take your child from the play area. Come inside the building and sign your child out and one of the staff will bring your child to the front lobby for dismissal.

If the person picking up the child appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, another authorized person will be called to pick-up both the child and the adult.

Please actively encourage positive behavior in your child during drop off and pick up times. This is a time of testing when two different authority figures are present (parent and provider) and children test at one time or another to see if the rules still apply. We will remind your child if inappropriate behaviors are being displayed.

If there is a court order keeping one parent or guardian away from the child, we must have a written note from the custodial parent or guardian in our file to that effect. Otherwise, we cannot prevent the non – custodial parent from picking up the child if he/she is listed on the child’s birth certificate and listed as a custodial parent on the child’s school registration forms.

We assume responsibility for your child only while on the school property. No child will be allowed to leave with anyone except the parent, unless indicated on the alternate pickup list, without written permission from the parent. Telephone permission will not do! Anyone unfamiliar to us will be required to show proof of identification. Pick up time is 6:00 p.m. After 6:00 p.m., a fee of $5.00 for the first minute and $1.00 for each additional minute will be added to your weekly bill.

Students exit our program reading at least one
grade level above peers.
