About Us

The International Day School was founded with the goal of offering pre-school children a well rounded education while cultivating a sense of global awareness and cultural appreciation. We encourage respect for diversity and differences in others. We believe a child’s early experiences enrich and stimulate furture growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as individuals in an environment that welcomes reason, exploration, questions and imagination. We realize each child’s need for love, security, acceptance, warmth and stimulation.

The International Day School (IDS) is conveniently located in the heart of Houston near the Museum District and the Houston Medical Center.

We are open year round from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Our academic year is in session from September 1st through May 31st. While academic progress is made during the summer months, we use our summer months to focus on enrichment activities and projects. International Day School observes most major holidays. School is not in session on the following holidays:

Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Independence Day. Please view our 2014 – 2015 schedule in Parent’s Corner.

The average day for International Day School students includes morning arrival, breakfast, circle time, curriculum activities, recess, rest, discovery centers and themed day activities. Spanish language instruction is included daily.

We offer the STEAM enrichment program which consist of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math studies and activities.

Our Art lessons include performing and visual projects, including music/dance and interpective story time.

Students exit our program reading at least one
grade level above peers.
